IDB Staff Strengthen Emergency Skills and Save Lives: First Aid, CPR Training & Blood Donation Drive

Cotabato City, Philippines – The IDB successfully conducted Occupational First Aid and Basic Life Support CPR/AED Training, along with a Mobile Blood Donation activity, on October 8-9 and 10, 2024, respectively. These activities were facilitated by the Philippine Red Cross- Maguindanao Chapter and aimed to enhance the skills and preparedness of IDB staff in emergency situations.

The two-day training program provided participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills on basic first aid principles and procedures, wound care and management, treatment of common injuries and illnesses, CPR techniques for adults, children, and infants, AED operation and usage, as well as emergency response and communication. The training was conducted in a hands-on format, allowing IDB participants to practice their skills and receive feedback from experienced trainers. This approach ensured that participants gained confidence and proficiency in the techniques learned.

As the culmination of the training, a mobile blood donation activity was held at the IDB Headquarters on October 10, 2024. The Philippine Red Cross set up a blood donation station, and IDB staff were encouraged to participate. A total of 39 IDB personnel generously donated blood, contributing to the much-needed blood supply in the region.

With this, IDB staff are now better equipped to respond to emergencies and provide immediate assistance to colleagues and the public. The successful implementation of these training activities demonstrates the IDB's commitment to the well-being of its staff and the community. These initiatives not only enhanced the skills and preparedness of IDB personnel but also contributed to a safer and healthier environment.
